The English Organ School, Somerset, England

To receive an order for an instrument is always a boost, when a past client commissions a second instrument one feels a little pride that the first one was so satisfactory. This instrument is very special, it was constructed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the death of Bach, it was first heard in public on the very day with talks and music relative to the occasion. In the evening a dinner in Thuringia style by a German chef was held in honour of the great man.

The instrument is one of many at this important centre in Somerset where Margaret Phillips admirably promotes the organ in its many roles alongside other keyboard instruments. It is housed within a simple elegant mahogany case, other than the Subbass all pipes are mounted upon a single windchest at soffit height.  Suspended action is used together with a mechanical stop action and modern wind system.
