The challenge with this project was to utilise as much pipework as possible from the Brindley & Foster/Willis organ and provide a new instrument with mechanical action and a stoplist suitable for the demands of today. The carefully designed and constructed panel work was skilfully adapted to accommodate a console at ground level and provide tin display pipes above. The project won a ‘Best Conservation/Restoration Develpoment’ award from Inverclyde Council. The long action is kept in correct tension by hydraulically restrained self adjusting squarebeams, the stop action is electro-magnetic with a comprehensive logic control system. |
