An early example of a new ‘old organ’ in England. This fine classical church was completed in 1791, over the years changes were made. In 1972-73 the building was completely renovated, new stone floor, return of the lost box pews the construction of a fine ‘three decker’ pulpit and new chandeliers provided. We were pleased to be awarded the contract to make the organ with the late Michael Gillingham as consultant. The case is based upon the G P England instrument at Blandford Forum, the architect Quinlan Terry of the Raymond Erith practice designed the case. An original eighteenth century organ would not have had pedals, the pipes for this division have had to be skilfully placed in the base of the case on either side of the console.
